Local Area Information

There are two Whitby beaches, one each side of the River Esk. The blue flag beaches are extremely popular with visitors to Whitby, but with over 2 miles of sand, there is plenty of room for everyone, ideal for building sand castles or for the more artistic, sand sculptures. Or dig out your kites and let them fly.

Whitby boasts its hugely popular yearly events, Goth weekends, Steampunk weekend, Whitby Regatta, Folk week, 60's music festival, Pirate festival and Railway in wartime to name a few. The likelihood of live music being played at one of many venues in the town throughout the weekends during the year is a definite.

You will find Fishing, Sailing, horse riding, and Golf all close by. Or bring your boots and walk the walks.

For those dining out there are various places to eat including pubs, restaurants, bistros and hotels plus a choice of some of the best fish & chips around.

Whitby has on its door step, beautiful places such as Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes, Sandsend and Goathland all worth a visit any time of the year.
